A Lifeline for the Littlest: Safe Haven Baby Box Now Installed at Fire Station 2

Our community gathered at Fire Station 2 to celebrate a powerful step forward in protecting the most vulnerable among us—newborn babies with a ribbon cutting for the Paragould Safe Haven Baby Box.

Thanks to the incredible efforts of Junior Auxiliary, who helped raise funds, along with support from a grant, this life-saving resource is now a reality in Paragould. These baby boxes provide a safe, anonymous option for parents in crisis, allowing them to place their newborn in a secure, temperature-controlled box where trained firefighters will be immediately alerted to care for the baby and contact the appropriate professionals.

While we hope this box never needs to be used, it stands as a symbol of hope, compassion, and safety for those who may feel they have no other choice.

We were honored to have Rose Mimms, representing Safe Haven Baby Boxes, on hand to ceremoniously open the box for the very first time in front of our community. Representatives Jimmy Gazaway and Jeremy Wooldridge, along with Nunn’s Construction, Junior Auxiliary members and Chamber Ambassadors, were also in attendance to mark this meaningful occasion. Nunn’s Construction generously installed the baby box at no cost to the city.

Representative Jimmy Gazaway shared a powerful sentiment: "I'm not sure how much the total for this baby box was, but if it saves even one life, it was well worth every penny." As part of the ceremony, Councilman Jared Pickney led a heartfelt prayer to bless the box and the lives it may one day touch.

Thank you to everyone who played a part in bringing this resource to our city. Together, we are making Paragould a safer place for every child—starting from their very first breath.
