Thanks to partnerships with the City of Paragould City Hall, grant writers, and other individuals, the Mission was able to expand its kitchen and pantry and add an intake room to aid in its goal of equipping and empowering individuals to sustain or regain self-sufficiency through housing, food, resources, supportive services, and networks.

Mission Outreach Unveils Newly Remodeled Facilities with Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Paragould, AR - December 12, 2023

Mission Outreach of Northeast Arkansas celebrated the completion of its recent remodel with a ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by the Paragould Regional Chamber of Commerce. The remodeling project, made possible through a generous grant, has renovated Mission Outreach’s facilities to better serve the needs of the community.

“The new kitchen, a bigger food pantry, and an intake room with a shower, washer, and dryer, are all things that we have needed for quite some time.  Our remodel would have not been possible without the help of Brenda Rowell, Grant Manager of the Arkansas Economic Development Commission; Sara Stocker, Economic & Community Development Manager of the East Arkansas Planning and Development District; and all of the others who put in their time and effort to ensure our remodel would happen,” said Jana Burnett, Executive Director of Mission Outreach.

As part of the project, the kitchen facilities were expanded, which allows for more cooks and volunteers to efficiently prepare and serve meals. In addition, the pantry area has undergone a sizable transformation, enabling improved organization and management of food donations. They also introduced an intake room. This space serves as a resource for new residents and members of the community, offering free access to showers and laundry facilities.

This recent remodel demonstrates Mission Outreach’s commitment to continually improving its services and facilities for the benefit of the community.

Mayor Josh Agee said, “Mission Outreach is a vital asset for our unhoused population and the City’s commitment to Mission Outreach will continue to be a top priority under my administration.”

Mission Outreach of Northeast Arkansas acknowledges the ongoing support it receives from the City of Paragould and other community partners. This collaboration has played a crucial role in Mission Outreach’s success in equipping and empowering the community.

Burnett added: “We had an excellent turnout for the ribbon cutting.  It is amazing to see all the people in our very own community who help to work and support us in our fight against homelessness and hunger.  It is always encouraging to see so many people celebrating yet another milestone for Mission Outreach.”
