Things to Do in Paragould - Kids Edition

Things to Do for Kids in Paragould - Summer 2021

It's the middle of summer, and your kids are showing no signs of crawling out of their screen-riddled zombie-esque coma from the past month.

You are probably thinking, "Go outside... Play with your friends... You know, back in my day we had social interactions face to face!"

If any of that sounds familiar, you are not alone! We have compiled a list of fun things to get your teens and tweens involved in their community.

1) Last-Minute Summer Camps

This section is for those looking to get their kid involved in a summer camp, but may have fallen behind on registration.

That's alright! Here are some camps still taking registrants for the summer

The Ridge Retreat and Adventure Center

The center has one remaining summer camps available for 2021.

These over-night camps include ropes courses, ziplining, swimming, bible study, and teambuilding activities!

Youth Week

  • Camp Dates: July 11 - July 16
  • Ages: 13-18
  • Registration Deadline: July 5th
  • Registration Fee: $150

If you are interested in signing up, there are still spots available! You must pre-register online in order to participate in the camp. You can fill out a registration form HERE.

2) Explore the Outdoors

This summer is hot, but don't let that stop you from taking in what Greene County's parks have to offer.

Let your children race paddle boats at Crowley's Ridge State Park or view a Ranger Presentation on the weekend at Lake Frierson State Park.

The city of Paragould is full of parks and playgrounds for your child, too!

Check out all of our city parks HERE

3) Classic American Festivities

No child's summer is complete without 4th of July fireworks and the County Fair! Both of these events are perfect for the whole family to enjoy.

Paragould Fireworks Show

The Paragould Fireworks Show will take place on July 4th (DUH!) at Rotary Softball Park across the street from Walmart.

Gates open for this free event at 7PM, so bring bug spray and settle in for the booms and flashes of a fantastic fireworks display.

Greene County Fair

The Greene County Fair will begin on Labor Day.

The fair brings so much joy to the people of Greene County! Kids can enjoy thrill rides (height permitting) and play games to win all kinds of prizes!

They can visit the stables to get up close and personal with their favorite farm animals.

Are they obsessed with cars? Take them to the derby for night upon night of fun!

Visit the Greene County Fair Facebook Page to learn more about details of all the week's events!

4) Connect to a Youth Group

Many churches offer summer youth programs like VBS and trips.

Check out our Chamber Directory section on churches to find an active youth group in town that fits your needs.

5) Crack Open a Good Book

Summer is the perfect time to spend your days immersed in a page turner.

There's just something about the history of where a book has been that is enchanting like the stories inside.

The Greene County Public Library is hosting its annual reading program online this year through a free app, READ squared.

You can call 870-236-8711 for more information on participating in the program.
