St. Bernards Medical Center was established in 1900 in response to a malarial fever outbreak in Northeast Arkansas. Since that time, it has focused on meeting community healthcare needs and has grown into one of the largest and most respected healthcare facilities in the state. The $400 million dollar investment in Northeast Arkansas will bring over 600 new jobstothe area, bringing the total number of employees at NEA Baptist Health System to approximately 1500. The new medical campus is scheduled to open Fall 2013. NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital is a 100-bed acute care facility in Jonesboro and is affiliated with Baptist Health Care Corporation of Memphis, TN. The local hospital offers a number of inpatient and outpatient services, emergency care, surgical services including weight loss surgery, neurology, respiratory care, cancer care, and p ulmonary rehabilitation. NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital also offers heart care through its Heart Center and labor and delivery services through the hospital’s Women’s Center. NEA Baptist Clinic is the largest and most comprehensive physician-led and professionally managed multi-specialty group practice in the region. NEA Baptist Clinic is made up of over 100 physicians providing care in more than 35 medical specialties.
