Gourd Birdhouse Workshop
Saturday, March 25, 2017, 01:30pm - 04:00pm

Come out to Crowley's Ridge State Park on Saturday, March 25th to make something your backyard birds are sure to enjoy. This Home "Tweet" Home Gourd birdhouse workshop is perfect for all ages and allows you to give a personalized touch to your yard, as well as a cozy home for your local feathered friends.

Gourds are a fruit, similar to a pumpkin, which have a hard outer shell. Pioneers would have used gourds for many purposes, but they were mainly used as a water holding container. Today, people use gourds generally for decoration. However, gourds make perfect birdhouses.

Guests will get the full experience of gourd birdhouses, from washing the gourds to hanging the completed gourd for all to see. Participants are asked to wear appropriate clothing, as you may get wet and a bit messy while washing the gourds.  The workshop will take place at Pavilion 3 from 1:30 - 4:00 p.m. and will cost $10 per person per gourd. Registration is required. For more information or to register, contact Crowley's Ridge State Park (870) 573-6751
