Fall has arrived with its cool, crisp days and nights. While it’s nice to stay warm and wrapped up on the couch with a cup of hot chocolate, there are many exciting events in the community. This list has been compiled especially for those wondering how to take in all Paragould has to offer this fall.

 

1. Attend a musical at the Collins Theatre

If you’ve never been to the Collins Theatre in Downtown Paragould, the perfect opportunity comes in October! You can see the Broadway musical, Rent, set in the East Village of New York City. If you enjoy musicals, you will love this one about love, dreams, and conflict. The show is cast and produced locally, so be sure to come out and support local talent.

2. Picnic at Harmon Park

Pack a lunch and head to Harmon Park! You can watch as new construction has begun on Greene County’s 8-Mile Creek Trail, which will eventually connect various locations across Paragould including Paragould High School, Paragould Primary, Greene County Tech Primary, and Harmon, Bland & Labor Day Parks. 

You can also bring your dog to Bark Park and let your pet run wild in one of two sections for small or large dogs.

3. Run (or walk) for a cause

Put on your running shoes and head to Greene County Tech Junior High on November 13. The annual 4,000 Steps for Diabetes Glow Run presented by Arkansas Methodist Medical Center Diabetes Care Clinic will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. All proceeds from the event will help with diabetes research and local efforts.

Arkansas Methodist Medical Center is located at 900 W. Kingshighway. This event will be held at GCT Jr High which is located at 5201 W. Kingshighway. 

4. Watch a movie at Scatter Creek

Grab a blanket and some lawn chairs and visit Scatter Creek Berries and Produce for fall family movie nights. The movies are free to the public with a canned food or cash donation. There will also be concessions available.

The Nightmare Before Christmas – October 23

In addition to movies, Scatter Creek has U-Pick pumpkins available at their pumpkin patch through October 30. They also have apples from Rendleman’s Orchard and other yummy goodies.

5. Visit a craft fair

Local artists will be showcasing their work at two crafting events this fall. 

The 2nd Annual Project Paragould Fall Craft Fair will be held October 16 at 9 a.m. at the Greene County Public Library. There will be free games, kettle corn, food, and live music. There will also be an exhibit inside the library featuring Lego brick models created by local builders. 

The 45th Annual Harvest Craft Show will be held November 6 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Paragould Community Center. There will be food, door prizes, and plenty of vendors. If you’re interested in becoming a vendor, call 870-239-7530.

6. Listen to some Bluegrass music

If you like Bluegrass music, you’re in for a treat at the Collins Theatre the fourth Monday of the month! 

On October 25, you can see Special Consensus, a two-time Grammy nominee, perform on the Collins stage. Special Consensus has been on nationwide and international tours and won many awards including the 2018 International Bluegrass Music Association’s Album of the Year. 

You might have seen the next group on Season 12 of America’s Got Talent. On November 22, The Baker Family from south central Missouri will perform a mix of bluegrass, gospel, and classic country music. 

Admission is $10 per person. Those 18 years old and under are admitted free.

7. Cheer on your favorite high school team to victory

Fall is all about football, so go out and support the Greene County Tech Eagles or Paragould Rams on the gridiron.

If you want to see both teams play at the same time, head to GCT on November 5th as they take on Paragould. Go team!

8. Enjoy Halloween to the fullest

If you’re looking for a safe, family-friendly way to trick-or-treat this year, Downtown Paragould is the place to do it! Saturday, October 30, get dressed up in your favorite costume and join the fun from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.

When your bags are full of candy there, head to the Paragould Community Center from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. for Trunk or Treat. Local businesses, organizations, individuals, and churches will be present. 9. Attend a car show

The Paragould Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #87 is hosting their first car show at Reynolds Park. If you are a car enthusiast, then mark your calendars for October 16 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. If you would like to participate in the car show, there is an entry fee and opportunities to win various awards. For those that don’t have a car in the show, there will be food and activities for the entire family.
